REGULATIONS ON TUITION

1.   The tuition should be paid in RMB currency.

2.   Students are expected to pay their tuition for one academic year or half a year in a lump sum.

3.   Registration and the first week after are the period for paying tuition fees. Students who fail to pay fees within the time limit should also pay 3% of the tuition as the overdue fine. And students should pay it in the appointed bank themselves.

4.   Students should keep the invoices of tuition carefully. Students who lose their invoices cannot go through the procedure of refunding tuition if they want to leave school.

5.   Tuition refunds for newly admitted students: if students propose to leave school within 2 weeks dating from the first day of class, 70% of the tuition paid is refundable; to leave within 4 weeks, 50% of the tuition is refundable. Students who propose to leave after 4 weeks dating from the first day of class will not get any of the tuition back.

6.   Tuition refunds for those who have once wanted to continue their study at BNU. For returning students: if students propose to leave school after paying the tuition and within 2 weeks dating from the first day of class, 70% of the tuition paid is refundable; to leave within 4 weeks, 50% of the tuition is refundable. Students who propose to leave after 4 weeks dating from the first day of class will not get any of the tuition back.

7.   If students who have paid the tuition for one academic year and then decide to leave in the second semester:

a.   For students who pay the tuition in spring semester: if students propose to leave before June 15th, all the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave after June 16th and within 2 weeks dating from the day of the second semester’s class starts, 70% of the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave within 4 weeks dating from the day of the second semester’s class starts, 50% of the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave after 4 weeks dating from the first day of the second semester, the tuition for the second semester is not refundable.

b.   For students who pay the tuition in fall semester: if students propose to leave before Dec. 15th, all the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave after Dec. 16th and within 2 weeks dating from the day of the second semester’s class starts, 70% of the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave within 4 weeks dating from the day of the second semester’s class starts, 50% of the tuition for the second semester is refundable; if students propose to leave after 4 weeks dating from the first day of the second semester, the tuition for the second semester is not refundable.

8.   Students who apply to refund the tuition should go through the procedures of school transfer, visa transfer or cancellation according to the requirements of the Office; otherwise the tuition is nonrefundable.

9.   Students who have not completed study in the assigned time and decide to extend study in BNU should

1)   Undergraduate students who have not completed their academic work within the assigned time should pay the tuition for the extended period according to the general tuition standard if they want to extend their study in BNU. BNU wouldn’t do visa for the students. Students who have not completed their theses for bachelor’s degrees should pay RMB 4200 each semester for the extended period.

2)   Students from College of Chinese Language and Culture who haven’t completed the theses for bachelor’s degrees should pay RMB4200 each semester for the extended period. If students haven’t passed more than two courses(included), they should pay the tuition as standard. If less than two courses, they should pay RMB 4200 each semester for the extended period and pay courses fee to the College of Chinese Language and Culture.

3)   Graduate students who have not completed their theses should pay RMB 4200 each semester for the extended period. Students who have not completed their courses within the assigned time should pay the tuition for the extended period according to the general tuition standard if they want to extend their study in BNU.

10.   The university reserves the right to adjust the tuition standard. If any change happens during the study period, students need to pay the tuition according to the new standard for the following semesters.
