Chinese Government Scholarship——Beijing Normal University Program

I Application Candidate

• 1) For those students who apply for full-time Master’s or Doctorate’s programs.
• 2) Not available in majors of applicant's native language or other languages and related except Chinese language. Not available in master’s program of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
• 3) Not be a registered student in Chinese universities at the time of application; or be a graduate from Chinese universities for more than one year.

II Scholarship Scope and Study Period

• 1) Students are exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials; and free dormitories on campus.
• 2) A living allowance is provided: Masters Students 1700RMB/month, Doctorate Students 2000RMB/month.
• 3) To provide outpatient medical fees and Foreign Students Medical Insurance. New arrival one-off settlement subsidy 1500RMB/person (Students been in China before not included);
• 4) Scholarship study period is the same with program period. Chinese-taught program applicants can apply for learning Chinese language for one to two years ahead of official study (Please fill the item when applying).

III Qualifications for Application

• 1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
• 2) Applicants are willing to abide by laws and rules of China, CSC as well as the University. Respect culture and customs of Chinese people, with good character, and in good health.
• 3) Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
• 4) Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
• 5) Applicants should have excellent records.
• 6) Applicants should have excellent ability to do research.
• 7) Applicants should not be holding scholarship of any other category.

IV Application Process

• 1) Log on the web of Beijing Normal University (BNU) http://apply.bnu.edu.cn/ and register to fill in and print the Application Form for International Students after submitting it online(BNU system opens on January 1 each year).
• 2) Log on the web of China Scholarship Council (CSC) http://laihua.csc.edu.cn and register to fill in and print the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship after submitting it online. Please submit the form again if you made any changes on it. (Type: Chinese Government Scholarship, Agency No.: 10027)
• 3) Applicants should send or mail the following required materials to BNU International Students Office before March 15th.
• 4) Applicants check the application process and the result through the account in CSC or BNU(Phone inquiries are not accepted).

V Application Materials

(Please prepare as the list below. Electronic or fax copies are not accepted or returned. All the materials as well as application fee will not be returned.)

• 1) BNU Application Form for International Students Log on the web of BNU http://apply.bnu.edu.cn/ and register to fill in, print and sign the Application Form for International Students after submitting it online (with guarantor’s signature as well).
• 2) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(in DUPLICATE) Log on the web of CSC http://laihua.csc.edu.cn and register to fill in, print and sign the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship after submitting it online.
• 3) Two Recommendation Letters Submit two original recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English), with signature on it.
• 4) Personal Statement (Master Program, PhD Program) Download and fill in the form, print with signature on it.
• 5) Originals and a copy of Highest Diploma and Academic Transcripts
v Applicants for master’s program must submit original or notarized photocopies of bachelor’s transcripts, graduation and degree certificate(Chinese or English).
v Applicants for doctoral program must submit original or notarized photocopies of Master’s transcripts, degree certificate(Chinese or English) and Chinese Abstract of Master dissertation.
*Applicants who will graduate must submit Expectation Certificate of Graduation. After admitted by the University, the documents must be submitted when register in BNU. Otherwise the admission will be canceled.
*Applicants who have ever worked, need to submit the original working certificate.

• 6) HSK Report or other Chinese Language Certificate copy(if you have)
• 7) Application fee RMB600(pay online in your BNU account)
• 8) Two passport size photos(with applicant’s name and expect college on the back)
• 9) Two Copies of Passport First Page(valid and ordinary passport)
• 10) Any published paper, proof of Patents or Academic Research(originals or copies)
• 11) Foreigner Physical Examination Form*(Photocopy, the originals should be kept by the applicant）
*Foreigner Physical Examination Form(download) printed by Chinese quarantine authority, it is only for those whose period of studies in China lasts up to six months(filled in Chinese or English). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.


VI Admission and Enrollment

• 1) Beijing Normal University (BNU) will organize professional experts to review materials of applicants, which will be reported to the Chinese Government Scholarships Council(CSC) for approval. BNU will send the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) to successful applicants then.
• 2) Accepted Students must register on time according to BNU’s requirements. Those who are not on time with no reasons will be canceled of CSC Scholarship as well as admission of BNU.
• 3) Those who have unqualified Physical Examination will be canceled of CSC Scholarship as well as admission of BNU.
• 4) According to the regulations from CSC, scholarship students will take annual evaluation organized by the host University. Those who pass the evaluation could have the opportunity for next year’s scholarship.
